Magic Mike
Public Service Announcement
Today we bring an important message from all things important. Not because it is Monday and we have a headache and the weather lady said, “It’s going to be cooler today, only 97 degrees but it’s going to feel hotter because of the humidity.” Not because we are judging because we have gotten to an age where if you aren’t our children we simply don’t care. Not because you will listen because if you had listened at all your entire life we wouldn’t even have to make an announcement. It isn’t even because someone made us mad or hurt our feelings. It isn’t because people even want to know our opinion but because this is 2012 and we can have a blog then we can share our opinion so people can read it and then complain even though it was their choice to read it. Kind of like people who complain about Facebook. It’s free, it’s a choice, and no one made you look.
Soooooooooooooo, here we go. And not like the beer commercial of the homeless dog named Wigo and every time you yell, “Here, Wigo!” He brings you a beer even though that is quite hilarious. Anywho, I get amused with Christians, myself included, when we make a decision without consulting common sense, scripture, Godly counsel, or any other form of moral compass and then get all up in arms over people that disagree with us. Which is incredibly ironic because we have been doing this with nonbelievers for thousands of years but now we have turned on each other! I hope you see the sick humor in that.
You see, we get upset when people who don’t believe in Christ, and have never claimed to follow His teachings, act like unbelievers but have given ourselves a pass when we, who claim to believe and follow, act opposed to His teachings. It really is baffling when you read it, isn’t it? Say this out loud to a friend and/or coworker and gauge the response; “I believe in Jesus and the entire Bible yet I choose to live like Jesus and the Bible were written like a menu. You know, I pick and choose scriptures to justify my poor choices and lack of self discipline! That way, see, I can act any way I want, watch anything I want, read anything I want, say anything I want, and yet still judge you for being a sinner. We call it Burger King Jesus because we can ‘have it our way’! BKJ for short.”
Jesus never said to his disciples, “Gentlemen, enforce the scripture till I return.” Or, “Behold I say unto you, if you, who are my followers, will force many to follow my sayings, thou shalt have many mansions.” Absurd, really, isn’t it? He did say to make disciples but if we follow His example, He made disciples out of His followers, not Twitter followers and not his friends on Facebook. Now, if you do as the bible says and truly, “speak the truth in love”, and people get offended then that’s not on you. But always remember that when Jesus died he gave all access to God through Him to you and I and every other believer out there. So none of us have exclusive scoops on what God says and does.
With that said, how are you doing? I don’t want you to answer to me. I want you to answer to you. How are you doing? Not perfect? Me either. Had some struggles? Me too. Wondered at times if you were even cut out for this Jesus stuff? Whew, I thought I was the only one. I haven’t mastered everything yet but I have learned some stuff. Here are just a few things I’ve learned that helps me.
- The more time and energy you spend on your personal relationship with Jesus, the less you have to spend worrying about others’.
- Treat others with the utmost respect, even if you disagree with them. You haven’t always been right.
- God first, family second. If you get that right, everything else will be ok.
- Be humble. It’s much more attractive than arrogance.
- Be real. It’s much easier to maintain than fake.
- Be excited. People will want to be around you more.
- Be happy. If you did the first thing I put on here, then you are going to spend an eternity in heaven. And that’s something worth being happy for.
By the way, the only reason I put Magic Mike as the title was to see how many more people read the blog because of it but since I don't want to be accused of false advertisment here you go.
Ladies, back to your complaining about men and pornography while reading 50 Shades and going to see Magic Mike. And, men, back to standing there dumbfounded at the double standard and complaining while you look at every female that walks by you. Yep, I went there. Sorry, my fingers took over when my mind was saying, “Nooooooooooo, the women won’t stand for it!”
I’m not judging, just an observation and an opinion. Remember, you didn’t have to read this…
