What I learned in 36 days...
So here’s the deal. On March 17th we began
the process of renovating our stage and church sanctuary.
Before renovation |
We needed more room
in the sanctuary and the most cost effective option was to tear down and start
over. Every day beginning March 17th through Easter Sunday April 20th
we worked at the church. EVERY DAY! Men and women went about their “regular”
jobs during the regular times and then came to the church work. There were
several workers that didn't even attend our church. It was amazing and the
results were phenomenal. But even beyond that, I learned a few things that I
decided to list:
·
Never underestimate God’s vision. He will outdo
yours every single time!
·
The notion that the church is dead is a myth.
The church (the called out ones) is alive and waiting to be led and let loose!
·
People have different gifts and they are most
effective when you free them to use their gifts.
·
There are still those that will sacrifice for
the Kingdom! Sacrifice like you would never believe.
·
I’m not as important as I once thought that I
was. There were things and activities that I used to HAVE to do but didn’t
during the 36 day process and earth continued to spin!
·
I missed my family. I mean really missed them. I
mean it was hard, really hard, to stay away from home so much. But they were
understanding.
·
Some people give. Some people work. Some do
both. Some do neither. In the end it doesn’t really matter because you didn’t
do it for people in the first place.
·
Money is a tool. That is all. It doesn’t control
or make decisions; it simply does what it is told.
·
To see something spectacular takes spectacular
sacrifice, teamwork, talent, and effort.
·
There are some real craftsmen out there. Not
just workers and laborers but craftsman that with the proper tools in their
hand can make works of art!

Craftsmanship |
·
Let the kids be a part. It will make a huge
difference in their lives.
·
Know why you do what you do. That may be the
only thing that gets you moving on days 30-36!
·
In the end, sacrifice for a God vision is always
worth it.
I pray that all of you had a great Easter weekend. Ours
was pretty special. 17 people surrendered their life to Christ. We all got to
enjoy our newly renovated foyer and sanctuary. Tammy and I got to spend some
much needed time with our parents and then on Monday, we got to spend some much
needed time with each other.
One of my goals right now is to commit to never forgetting
this list. If all we got out of the previous 36 days was a new stage then our
time, money, and sacrifice was wasted.
Have a great week,
Pastor Dad
