Tammy's gonna do it!

Remember a couple of days ago I said we were hosting a Hell House at our church and the candy trail and all that? Well, the best is over the worst is to come. The best being that over 100 kids each night went through the candy trail with 25 or so volunteers making that possible. There was candy and games and candy and inflatables and candy and lots of fun. The best being that over 100 adults and big kids each night went through the Hell House with 50 or so volunteers making that possible. The best being that 12 people made decisions for Christ over the two nights. The best being, whew, it’s over.

The worst you ask? Clean up! See, all this was inside of our church. The weather had been predicted to be much worse so we moved everything inside. Clean up. What ya doin on a cold Thursday? Chances are someone will be cleaning here and we always like working volunteers J

And another reason it is Terrific Thursday is this. Tammy has agreed to do the next message with me. Actually, Tammy, Kelcey, and Jordan will be joining me on stage this coming Sunday to have a conversation about family and parenting. For those that don’t go to our church, I am doing a series called, “Elevate Your Family”, and each week I have talked about different aspects of family. This week the message is on Parenting. You have no idea how big of a deal this is. This may be her biggest fear after snakes. No, seriously, it is. Which makes it even more amazing because she isn’t doing it to be seen or to be looked at as anything special (even though she is), but she is doing this to help me and the church out. Imagine your second worst fear. Snakes? Would you hold one to help out your spouse? Flying? Would you take a trip that benefited you not one bit just to help out your best friend? Spiders? Would you stick your hand in a jar full of spiders for them? Tammy is doing just this!!

Tammy is an amazing wife and mother and because I am seen I get way too much credit for my awesome family. She is the fuel for our family to move forward. She plans everything and then me, Kelcey, and Jordan just show up. Dinners are mostly her ideas. Christmas is all on her. Vacations? Yep that also! I have said this so many times that people become tired of it but she is the “feeling” in our family. It doesn’t mean that I don’t have any but usually I’m so focused on something practical and what I think is necessary, that I forget to show my feelings. If it weren’t for her, all people would ever see from me would be a cold and focused person that never slowed down and never looked around. If it weren’t for her, everyone would get gift cards for Christmas. Everyone! If it weren’t for her we wouldn’t see my family or hers. I don’t think of those things but she does.

I am so excited! If you don’t have a church, don’t like church, and don’t like preachers or their sermons but you have or may have kids someday, you should come to RIO 180 on Sunday (9:45am). No preaching. Great music (no, really, it’s amazing) and you’ll hear how two teenagers started a family and it worked. Wasn’t an ideal start but with a lot of stubbornness and great family, we made it this far and we want others to as well.

If you go to church somewhere then please go there. You can get a cd of our talk. If I try to build our church while destroying another it probably isn’t something that you want to be a part of. But we don’t have time for that soap-box today. We have to clean!!!!!!

            Happy November 1st everyone!
